The Colors Continue

My, oh, my! As I said in my past post, fall seems to keep ushering in colorful goodness. Just take a look at the colors of today. The leaves, the berries, the clouds, the mushrooms, new discoveries and the painted face of Cupcake Girl.

What’s Up?

Golly gosh….has it really been 12 days since I last blogged? It’s not like I haven’t thought about it. Almost every night, while falling asleep, of course, I think about really cool and interesting things to say, photos to share, pearls of wisdom to share, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Then morning arrives and poof! Thought are forgotten.

So what’s been up? Here is just a dashing of things lately:

1. Christmas shopping. Yep. Probably about 80% complete. My goal is to finished by November 30. In 30+ years I have always waited until after Thanksgiving. Not this year. Made the decision and moved forward.

2. Decided to finally make the small leap into the photography business. Just a small one, mind you. It takes baby steps and everything thus far has been to build up my portfolio. I designed a logo, business cards, and lastly a website. The website is still a work in progress, but I am very excited about this new adventure. More on that later.

3. Have been browsing though several of my Christmas project books and deciding on things I want to make. Low and behold, here it is November 14 and I haven’t produced anything. Yet. There is still time and I am hopeful I will accomplish at least a few things.

4. Enjoying the fall weather so far? Well I sure have. There has been a mix of some cold days here and there, but oh my, the leaves. I really thought the foliage would be rather dismal this year. Granted, it hasn’t be as bold as I have seen in the past, but it has certainly drawn itself out. Just today, even with the gray clouds, the reds and oranges were gorgeous! I am feasting with my eyes daily because I know it will soon be gone.

5. My Mother celebrated her birthday at the end of October. I have a post almost complete about her. So stay tuned for that one!

6. I have complete 2 dresses for cupcake. I love, love, love fabric. Especially cute little prints. So enjoy the hanger preview of Mr. Owl and Mr. Turkey. I can’t wait to see them on that cute little Cupcake Girl!

I am also working on a few secret sewing projects that are cuteness +10. I will post those as soon as the receive-es receive them!

That’s just a mini-update on things in Lulu’s World. Stay tuned. And of course my parting shot:

A Hoot of a Halloween

Cupcake had a spectacular weekend! The festivities kicked off Friday with a Pumpkin Festival at her preschool. A pumpkin patch, hayride and an awesome petting zoo. Saturday was spent at Boo in the Zoo with her parents. They all three had a fun, fun time! Then Halloween night we took her trick or treating in one of our local neighborhoods. Actually it is the same neighborhood that I would take Cupcake Girl’s mom and aunt. What a beautiful evening with lots of laughter and lots of memories. New memories and fleeting ones.

What a great petting zoo! Chickens and roosters that like to be held, a family of goats, a duck, soft wooly sheep, a very patient alpaca and a beautiful black pig.

This was at the last house we visited. Cupcake loved these eyeballs and it was her first pick of the candy stash!

Hope your Halloween was as SPOOK-TAC-U-LAR as ours!!!

A Rainy Day

We have been –13 inches in our rainfall. Grass has turned brown, bushes and shrubs withered and the colorful fall foliage that we usually have, lacks that punch that fall always brings. It just looked plain dull with a capital D.

This past week we were hit with rain. But not just rain. Severe storms. Thunder. Lightening. Tornadoes. Yep. Tornadoes. Fortunately no one locally was killed. There were a few folks with minor injuries and some moderate damage. Aside from the severe weather, it was marvelous to have the rain. I think it may have perked up the fall colors just a bit.

For Wednesday’s playdate with Cupcake girl, we went to lunch and then her 26 visit to the aquarium. Now let me tell you, that girl was dressed to impress. Her mama did a dang good job. Gave her an umbrella (for the little sprinkles that we were still experiencing) and she was good-to-go! My little retro Cupcake Girl!

She loves the aquarium and always knows exactly where she wants to start. Penguins are usually first, followed by the rays, butterflies, then sharks.

And of course, what would a playdate be without some ice cream? This girl loves her ice cream!! She started with strawberry on a sugar cone that had a stripe of chocolate along the top, then was rolled in sprinkles.

Then she wanted to “share” with me. So we swapped. Now she indulged in chocolate with peanut butter swirl on a sugar cone rolled in chocolate. YUM!
