Kitchen Renovation – Day 1

Today it started. Our kitchen/den renovation. Stuart Gaines, owner of New Blue Construction, is our contractor and what a fabulous contractor he is! In 2008, Stuart built our new deck/screened-in porch, and we absolute love! Stuart’s work ethics, compassion and the fact that he is trained as a Certified Green Professional with the NAHB, are qualities that matter when anyone is attempting construction or renovation.

At 9 o’clock today Stuart’s crew arrived and began the demolition process. The electrician also arrived to mark where the lighting will be installed. After the New Blue guys install the sheetrock on both the walls and ceiling, it will be easier for the electrician to install the lighting with holes already in the old ceiling.

Here are a few before shots (after we cleared everything out).DSC_8726 DSC_8729

Tomorrow will not be an eventful day….just having the ceiling markings cut out.
